Riding lessons

Time and place
We arrange riding lessons at Stockby riding school every other Wednesday (even weeks) at 08:45am. We meet 08:00am at the stables (Stockbyvägen 2, 181 41 Lidingö)

Sign-up
You find the sign-up at the bottom of this page. The form usually opens Sunday 12 days before the lesson, at 8:00pm, and the principle first come first served is applied. Read all information on this page before you sign up! An email with payment information will be sent to you when the seats are starting to fill up.

Price and payment
The lessons are 45 min and cost 300 SEK (the price before SSECs subsidization was 350 SEK!). An email with payment information will be sent to you when the seats are starting to fill up.

Lessons
The lessons are 45 minutes and the number of participants are 8 riders. The lessons are usually only for experienced riders (level 3-5), but beginner lessons might also occur. See below which of the following lessons are best suited for you.

Levels
Level 0 - Beginner.
Level 1 - Have ridden a few times. Can steer and stop.
Level 2 - Have ridden about a year. Started practicing canter.
Level 3 - Have ridden several years. Manages walk, trot and canter. Can tack up the horse on her own.
Level 4 - Have started to ride the horse on the bit. Practices leg yielding. 
Level 5 - Rides the horse on the bit. Practices side pass and half pass. 

Practical information
- Wash your riding equipment if you have been in another stable.
- For safety reasons, wear shoes with a heal. Preferably riding boots or similar.
- Riding helmets must be worn during the lesson (can borrowed at the riding school).
- There are toilets and changing rooms at the riding schools, unfortunately no showers.
- There is a place to store valuables but you can also bring them with you into the arena.
- If you travel by car, there is a free parking lot next to the stables.
- Stockby Riding School has a weight limit of 90 kg. 

Terms and conditions

Sign-up terms
To participate in the riding lessons you must be a registered member of SSEC and have paid the membership fee (read more about the membership here: Membership). Cancellations must occur at latest 12.00 Monday the same week as the lesson (contact us on stockholmstudentriders@gmail.com). If you cancel later we cannot guarantee refund. The riding school has a weight limit of maximum 90 kg.

If the riding lesson is cancelled
If the riding lessons is cancelled, because of e.g. injured/ill horses or similar, we will inform this to you as soon as possible. If less than 5 people sign up, the riding lesson might also be cancelled, and in that case we will inform you of this at latest 48 hours before the lessons start. If the lessons is cancelled after your payment, you could re-book or be refunded. Just contact us at stockholmstudentriders@gmail.com.

Insurance
SSEC is connected to the "Swedish Academic Athlete Federation" so all of our members are covered by their accident insurance, when participating in our activities. The insurance is subscribed at the Swedish insurance company Folksam, and also covers accidents occuring at transportation to or from our activities.

Our obligations
Our obligations are to inform you of appropriate riding gear that are to be worn for your safety. We are also obliged to inform you if there are any diseases at the stable that can affect you. We will also inform if the riding lesson can't be held or if there is a change in date or time.
